The Synod on Synodality, a pivotal gathering of Catholic Bishops, exceeded expectations according to Archbishop Andrew Nkea Fuanya of Cameroon. He affirmed that the views from Africa held significant weight during the discussions, marking a pivotal milestone in the Synod’s inclusive approach.

Archbishop Andrew Nkea Fuanya expressed satisfaction over the recently concluded synodal assembly. Contrary to his initial expectations, he observed that the Synod on Synodality went exceptionally well.

“This month’s synodal assembly exceeded my expectations. I’m quite impressed with how events unfolded,” Archbishop Fuanya stated.

African Views Reverberated in the Synod

The Synod reportedly incorporated the African perspectives significantly in its proceedings. Archbishop Fuanya stressed that African views were not only heard but were taken ‘very seriously’ by the Synod, highlighting a critical step towards inclusivity and diversity within the Church.

“Views from Africa were considered very seriously in the Synod. I think that’s an auspicious step towards greater inclusivity,” Fuanya noted.
