Displaced and Ignored: Cameroon’s Climate Refugees Caught in a Cycle of Despair
In the remote Dana camp in Maroua, Cameroon’s Far North Region, Aminatou Ibrahim, a climate refugee, lives in an unsettling reality. Forced to desert her home due to the escalating climate crisis, she now resides in a makeshift seven square metre hut, a stark symbol of the grim plight faced by climate refugees in the country.
