Rwandan Women’s Volleyball Team Heads to Cameroon for the African Championship
In a spirited display of competitive sportsmanship, the Rwanda women’s national volleyball team embarked from Kigali International Airport on Wednesday night. Their destination? Cameroon, where they are set to compete in the 2023 Women’s African Volleyball Championship in Yaoundé starting from August 16.

The Rwandan team’s departure marks the beginning of a journey filled with high hopes and nerves of steel. The 2023 Women’s African Volleyball Championship is an important stage where they can showcase their skills and compete with some of Africa’s best teams.
Rwanda’s national coach, Paul Bitok, expressed his optimism, “We have been preparing intensively for the championship. The team is highly motivated, and we’re looking forward to giving our best performances.”
Cameroon Awaits: A Platform for Excellence
As the destination for the African Championship, Cameroon is set to host some of Africa’s top volleyball talents. The championship serves as a platform for participating teams to not only compete against each other but also to celebrate the sporting spirit and talent within the continent.
“It’s always an honor to compete at such a prestigious event,” noted team captain Seraphine Mukantambara. “We’re excited to represent Rwanda and show the world what we’re capable of.”

The team, which comprises several players from the University of Rwanda, has received immense support from the institution. The university proudly acknowledges its contribution to nurturing the athletes and stands in solidarity with the team as they gear up for the championship.
